Default cost of owning a tt?

Yo guys.. im currently looking at a 04 audi tt 64k miles 6 cylinder 2wd automatic.

i can get it pretty cheap, around 10 grand. But ive heard a lot of talk that audi TTs have MANY MANY problems and need to be fixed on a weekly or biweekly basis, is this true? and are they expensive to drive/upkeep?

you will only see problems with audi's if u start tuning them.

and this 2004 3.2 TT sounds rather if'y. as far as i know they never made a 3.2 in a 2wd.?

no. they are like every other car.
they do have there problems some will have electrical. but by 2004 they pretty much worked them out. i have a 2003 180 fwd with 107k miles on it and havent had any electrical problems.

expensive to repair?? to some yes. i dont know what your bank account is, but to service your timing belt is $1300 at the dealership. and that car is due for one. ( unless they already did it ) u want to do them every 65k-70k miles . so check that out.

If you get one like mine.. They are expensive. HOWEVER.. Like said above they are like any other car. Just be sure to keep up on it and it will be a great, fun car.

Obviously with forums like this, theres a huge underground market for buy, sell, and trade. If you take it to the dealer every single time like a liberal... without shopping around for parts or doing some of your own repairs then dont get one... but it looks like you found the right place to be to keep the cost down, just look at the "for sale/trade" thread and you can see the Audi community lends a hand and sticks it to the man very well

This is not a car for someone with no mechanical aptitude.
In general, there are several recurring issues with most Audi models. Most are small annoyances that can be fixed by someone that likes to tinker. If you have to take your car in for every issue, it'll cost you a small fortune for maintenance. Not to mention the frustration and inconvenience.
On the other hand, if you like to get your hands dirty and get satisfaction by working on your car, go for it.
Otherwise I suggest a Honda or Toyota.

Theres a part somewhere in the middle where a character mentions how hot it is outside and the other guy he's with says "and dam, it sure is hot out today" just sorta reminded me of your post right after mine haha hopefully some others caught the inside joke :P
