Default custom made turbo kit

So you guys know that I just want MORE POWER! So Ive been doing some research and im going to make my own turbo kit with the help of my VW friend( who has lots of knowledge)

1) We start off with a turbo manifold, I want to do a T3 turbo, so I have found a manifold

http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/VW-Au...spagenameZWDVW

2) I have found a T3 turbo that I want, but don't know what trim to use? Suggestions
A)Garrett/Turbonetics T3/T4E 50trim - 595US shipped
B)Garrett T3/T4E 57trim - 575USD shipped
C)Garrett T3/T4E 60trim - 575US shipped

http://forums.vwvortex.com/zerothread?id=1849316

3) I need injectors, I have a 225, so I have to choose injectors and suggestions?
4) maybe an adjustable fuel pressure regulator
5) All the piping, which I have covered bc my friend has a shop.
6) Reprogramming but in since I have a MBC I can just do it myself.

Any suggestions towards this Idea?

You really have no idea what you are up against doing it this way do you? There is a lot more to tuning these engines than throwing a big turbo, injectors, and an MBC. Even Lemmiwinks has its limits, because you are still tuning a program that expects to see a K04.

You are going to spend way more $$$ than if you buy a Del Rio, APR, Dahlback, or other stage 3 kit that has everything you need. The rate you are going you are going to end up with an expensive POS that won't perform anywhere near the complete kits. But it is your money to spend, you just aren't going to get a lot of support here.

Unless your friend that works on VW has a full tuning shop on hand including an independant engine control module and programming you are heading down an endless money pit. If you really want to go the custom route, you'd better have about $20,000 and find a good race shop that has experience in building and controlling these engines.

Just my $0.02.

This is my last little bit of help for you.

manifold
50trim .48 turbine
440, 550, 630cc injectors depending on tuning
wastegate
sw go with revo 440 file or unitronics 630 file or giac file (id go with giac's file)
still need a custom dp made.
oil lines (pagpartstalk to arnold, he will get you everything you need. You can even get everything from him too. You should call him!!)
no coolent lines needed.

and all that is left is just redoing the intake and connecting the ic piping.

I agree with XCLR8TT in that its going to be a bigger and more costly job than just going stage 3 which will be ridiculous anyways... if i was you id just go that route, but like he said, your money

Peicing together your own stuff is often much cheaper than buying a kit. The reason steve said it was more expensive was because he acts and thinks later, which in the end is going to cost him far more in money than just buying a kit. The items i listed above for him would give him a very good kit and cost no where near what a apr or other kits would cost.

1. where did you find a 50 trim for 595?

2. 57 trim and 60 trim? dont TT's redline at like 6? or 6,5? and a non bb 57 trim spools at like 5k...and 60 trim is even worse...

3. I think a nice t3 50 trim kit would be the cheapest, Im sure it wont end up costing as much as some of the turbo kits that are out...Im a noob on this forumnor do I own a TT but arent they kits like 6k?

4.I peiced toghter a 50 trim kit forabout than $2500...but that was for my evo..manifold, turbo, External wastegate/bov,oil/water lines, custom down pipe, 720cc injectorsand a tune

My one suggestion is don't be afraid to spend a little more up front for an ATP exhaust manifold, that way your not changing a cracked one out right away. I'm at work so I can't see the mani you picked out. As for the turb, I would go with the 50 trim. I think you will need a coolant block for off the engine too due to to our turbos being oil and coolant cooled. I've heard good things on the Revo with SPS3 and the BT software for you setup as well.

Just food for thought.

Anyone think of internals, I know they say they are good for 400whp, but isnt it better to think ahead instead of finding out the hard way when you throw a rod thru ur oil pan???

I'll safely run 350 to 375 and I don't plan on this going more than that ever. When I blow it, notice I said when, I will buiild it right, until then I'm not tapping the factory seals, but when it blows it will be ported head, ported everything actually, cams, forged internals, and probably sleeve the cylinder walls. Until the point I blow it, I will only lighten it here and there once the BT is done, but that's at least half a year away.

The t3/t4 50trim spools much more gradually then a gt turbo. This will not put massive strain on the rods or break them. I have seen many people with 320-375whp YES 375WHP and on stock internals, on weaker 03 gti rods, not 2000 atc/awd or 225 rods. You will be fine running a 50 trim on stocks internals.
