Default Damage From Non-Synthetic Oil

I always use synthetic oil since buying my TT, however I bought it used, and have my doubts if the previous owner was diligent about always using synthetic oil. The car has 35K miles, and I am concerned if there is potential damage from using regular motor oil. Is damage a possibility, and is there any way to correct it? I'm thinking very frequent oil changes, 2-3 times, to flush out any sludge build up. Any thoughts?

Well if you're afraid he sludged it up, you can run solvents through your oil such as seafoam.

the ill effects on non syn oil would take more than 35k miles to build up. That is unless it was driven 10k+ mile between changes, which i doubt it was.

Dont worry about the past, there shouldnt be any harm done. But the only time reg oil should be used is to break in the engine and only then

Hell the dealer doesn't even use synthetic oil in the 1.8T on the TT, only on the A4 1.8T.
I think you have nothing to worry about.

That's a new one on me. Why would that be?

It's interesting, but not surprising, that the dealer doesn't use synthetic.
Regarding synthetic oil, my Bentley Manual states:
"Observe oil specifications given in tables above. Use only synthetic oils. Oils for all engines must meet specific Audi quality standards. Preferred viscosity (weight) for all engines is SAE 5W40. Do not overfill."

it helps seat the rings better. Syn is way to slick for them to do this properly.
