Did a compression check
I did a compression check on my recently bought 2001 TT 225. My compression was between 185 and 195. I did put in a can of engine restore about 500 miles ago when I changed the oil and that might be why the compression was so good. My engine has 125000 miles so I was not expecting such high numbers. I guess those german engines when properly maintained do last a while.
thats good, I don't know what mines like... hmm maybe I should check it before I try and pull an extra 100+whp out of it lol. I have started using a can of that engine restore every now and then... cant hurt right?
compression testers are under $30 and there is a how to in the a4 stickies. Basically remove spark plug with the probe, fuel/coilpack connectors and start the car a couple times, then switch.
Ryan, quick idea of what you're doing about 30 seconds in.

I've posted this vid before, nothing new, just something you may not have paid attention to. This is northern NY, but these are the guys I'm gonna be staying with out in VT until I get an apartment.

I love how they used the wrong heat range and blamed it on the autolites
Even autolites changed regualy and in the correct heat range wouldnt of killed the motor. Not tomention that is one tiny ic core. But that is a great way to kill what looks like a AEB head [:@]

Pretty sure that is/was an AEB head, and he admits to using the wrong heat range. Just like on engine build #2, he horsed on it before remapping for a bigger turbo, and put a rod thru the side of the block. Or was that block 1?
Anyway, block 1 is now a coffee table base, block 2 was last seen as a Christmas tree stand. He's a little crazy like that, but when his plans DO come together, its usually pretty awesome. Its the follow thru to completion that gets him, he only goes 90% most of the time

I'd say its sound advice to keep the oil on the inside. He's always coming up with deals from somewhere though. That vid... valve regrind after the melted plug cost him something like $35 if i got the story right.
