Default Did the resonator only mod today!

I had my friend up in Truckee (Ca.) cut out my stock exhaust today and weld up a Y pipe and put the stock tips back on the new sections. My gawd, that thing rumbles! Sounds damn mean and durring the 1.5 hours home (Sacramento) that baby purred like a kitten!

Just sounds better............not sure it really did anything more, except lighten up the rear end by 35 pounds or so. In the end, it cost me $50.00 bucks in pipe, etc, 12 pack of St. Pauli Girl beer, and a large pizza for lunch! My friend took his time and did some quality work (he owns his own welding shop) and basically hooked me up! Oh yes, this is the guy who is making a aluminum rack for the TT.............which he has started on already!

One last thing..........I painted the calipers with some cheap stuff from Pep Boys.........turned out pretty good in my opinion. So the TT is getting some love this week............and not costing me an arm and leg while doing it (YET)!

Just wanted to share.
Cheers,
Chans

^ having mandrel bent piping to delete the muffler isn't worth it imo. Y-pipe works wonders.

i'd invest in mandrel bent pipes if you're gonna run a full custom turbo-back setup

It took him about 5 hours..........however, that was with lunch, messing around with other projects, etc. He could have had it done in two or less hours BUT he made his own Y adapter plus all of the above mentioned. I will post up some pictures asap. I need to charge up my camera.

Cheers,

Sweet. glad it worked out for you so cheap.

For those interested in using mandrel bent, you can get sections of mandrel bent tubing online from http://store.racing-solutions.org/ for a decent price.

I'd love to see a picture or specs/diagrams of the Y pipe / muffler delete for a 225Q...

not really specs to it.

1- cut muffler off
2- weld in replacement pipe, reuse hangers/hanger locations.

Y pipe is only if you want to keep 2 tips.
Just make sure you actually have the pipe exit at the rear bumper, not under the car, or it'll drone like hell at highway speeds.
