now that's very strange because I cant see how it would work properly without the resistor ( unless its been modded and the cheap EBay resistor is put into the wiring ) therefore eliminating the proper resistor so chances are it was removed to prevent electronic chatter between resistors.

im checking into it because its interesting

The MAF I posted is the MAF that came with my TT when I bought it (its dead.) However the replacement MAF I purchased from ECSTuning is identical. I can take a picture of that one also when I get home from work. Dont really want to take it out of the car again (just pulled it and cleaned it for ***** and giggles on Saturday.)

well what can I say ( the maf clearly shows where the resistor sits ) but I could be wrong which I doubt so it must be a mod but I have been wrong before lol

now your going deep have you considered looking at one from the dealers to compare?? I wont go into the even deeper side on how it works but simply the resistor is there to measure air temp and volume plus other things and without it please explain to me how it could work without it, of course im just some dumb **** Brit who knows nothing j/k

you get an attitude pretty quickly.. please dont tell me to go to the dealer and look because i bought OEM parts NEW in the BOX.

I dont think you are talking about what the OP was asking about.

the difference in those pictures is a resistor on the side of the MAF.

the element that measures the airtemp and volume is still there. its located inside the V shaped notch you can see in the picture. its placed appropriately to measure air that would flow from right to left in the picture.

Here are more pics for reference.
