Default Don't u think it over priced??

hi,
Finally, i installed my exhaust today.
I bought 3" 6ft T409 pipe & Magna Flow Racing Muffler Turbo back one month ago. I went to muffler shop to estimate the price. They said it will be around $100-200. I thought it was fair price and i asked them to do it. 3hrs later they called me back and charged me $300 for installation.

I mean I don't have choice to pay it , but don't u guys thinks it over priced??

Dude...I wouldn't think it would take them even an hour to do it if they have a lift. Hardest part would be reaching in to remove/reinstall the downpipe nuts. From there you just unbolt the bracket that holds the mid section on and chop up the piping in a few spots and it comes right off. Installation is just bolting up/hanging up stuff. ********.

If they ONLY charged you $300, i dont know what your upset about. You gave them a pipe and muffler and they did all the bending and welding along with removal and install of the old/new parts. That seems more than fair since most shops would charge you atleast $100-150 just to swap catbacks.

Please correct me if im wrong and you paid fab and another $300 for install

I think **** happens. Sometimes they run into more of a pain In the *** than anticipated, and have to charge more. Next time you get an estimate, get it in writing. That way, they will be bound by documentation. If they were truly dicks, you would be able to take them to small claims court. Or atleast asking them for a written estimate will make them give you a more realistic figure. Rather than the bait and switch.

Whoops. I didn't realize this was fabbed...read too fast. I thought he brought them a bolt up turboback system.

In that case, $300 is quite reasonable for fab work. My buddy had to pay $100 just to have a shop weld a pair of 90 degree pipes to a muffler and a pair of tips so that seems about fair.
