Default Door locks when battery is hooked up?

A couple months ago I was in a car accident and a body shop has been working on the car. They called me today with a couple questions and I don't know where to start.

He said that when they hook the battery up it locks just the driver door and it won't let you open it from the inside or outside. He also said that the key won't work for keyless entry. They did have the door apart to fix a dent and re paint the mirror and he said the took it back apart to double check but does anyone have an idea.

If it is the alarm system or keyfob how do I reset those?

Any help would be great.

Thanks

I see that you have a 2002..I have a 2008 so I'm not sure if this helps but try going into the menu in the dis (assuming it is the same set up) and un-check door lock with key fob or vice versa to see if that re-sets it. Good luck

Ok so after 4 hours at the autobody shop today we have made zero progress. We tried everything including using a bent screwdriver to try to get to the actual lock mechanism in the unit. Nothing...The shop is saying it's not their fault and that something to do with the security locked it out completely which makes no sense. They have the key!!! They checked for codes using a vagcom with no luck either....at this point it looks like we drill the lock out and break it then replace it. If it was really security related why wouldn't it lock both doors?

Might be worth calling an Audi dealership and talking to one of their technicians!

I actually called a dealership and talked to three different technicians while we were at the car to make sure I could describe everything but they were no help unfortunately. I will know more today.

Keep us posted....From what was said about the car being locked out it sounds like something that could happen ....I know there is a code with the radio and sometimes if the battery is disconnected/re-connected you need to know the code for the radio to work again...so this could be true about the lock system, although it should be both doors. Good luck ..hope u get this resolved.

well as an update...car was towed to the closest audi dealership. The body shop tried to take the passenger side apart to see how the locking mechanism was in place to compare and ended up locking that door completely as well....Well at least I have a new bumber, hood, driver side fender, 2 new headlights, and almost all of the plastic pieces that are in the front of the car are new as well. Almost time to go bt thoughts on this?
