Default Due Dilligence on TTs

Whats up!

New to the Audi Forum... NO Audi yet, but looking to buy a TT this year just doing my Due Diligence before I buy.

I looked for the FAQS, but I did not see them or I completely missed them.

Just looking to see if there is any trouble with the TTs,

What are the better years of TT with less trouble or recalls t do upgrades and mods?

I noticed that there were some recalls on coil packs and instrument guages / panels...

easy to fix or replace or not?

I really like the cars and would like to mod one in the next year or so.

If you know of anything you think a newbie should now just post.

TThanks!

well, the older you go/higher milage you go, you'll end up replacing things that are just worn out, so in the maintainance catagory, newer is cheaper. Newer TT's have had the bugs worked out that the older ones suffer from. You'll find that replacing parts isn't cheap, Audi isn't a cheap brand to drive at all, and the TT seems to be the worst. I mean, who want's to pay $255 for a boost gauge... (vent gauge pod) Changing the haldex fluid yourself will still run you about $65 for teh oil and filter, and the cheapest you'll get the wrench for the filter is $40. Keep all this in mind.

Looks like you did your research into the timing belt stuff, so you get the idea there.

Other than that stuff, the car is awesome to drive, and for being a 6 year old model line, still turns heads. As long as you think you can stay on top of things with the car, its a great one to own. Oh, upside... somehow, insurance isn't really expensive for a TT!
