e85 fuel?
No. It would take a totally different ECU, ignition system and the seals in the engine will not be able to handle the drying effect of the Alcohol content of the E85 gas.
I don't even want to try and put E10 in my car. Pure 93 Octane from Shell or BP is the only thing my baby eats

No you are not alone, mine dines on a regular diet of 91 Oct (best I can get in CA), but 4 or 5 times a year I take her out to a couple of great local spots and let her gorge herself on 100 Octane.
Yes you CAN run e85. What they said is true, it can cause problems, but those will take a long time to happen. But to run it, you would need larger injectors 440cc min 630cc prefered and a fuel pump. The reason is it takes 50% more fuel to = gas. However, you will get roughly the same cost/mile since the cost of e85 is cheaper and you will also be able to run race gas programs since it is ~115octane. If you want more info, theswoleguy on vwvortex is running his car on straight e85 and there is his thread that is like 12pages now in the 1.8t section.
So if you do get new injectors and a beefier fuel pump you could possibly run E85 but your gas mileage will go down to 13 mpg. I bet with the larger injectors and fuel pump your regular gas Gas mileage would drop as well unless you have a program especially written for this situation.
In Dayton OH right now its $3/gal e85 and $3.90/gal 93. You may be spending a little bit more, but you will also see a 15-25whp gain on a stock turbo and as much as 100whp gain on a 400whp turbo. This as opposed to running $5-6/gallon 100+ octane gas
I'm gonna quit changing my oil too. I mean, it'll take a long time for the damage to happen right?
Uhh, on second thought, maybe I won't half-*** it. I'll change my oil to PREVENT damage from happening, and if I WERE to convert to E85, I think I'll change out my fuel lines/seals to PREVENT THAT damage from happening too.
