Default Engine blew up. Need a new one. AMU code

Well after changing my headgasket, I'm guessing it didnt seal up completely or something and long story short, there is a hole in my block. I've been looking on ebay and found longblocks for about 2500 shipped. This seems like the best course of action. Has anyone gone threw and engine swap before and if so, how much was it? I got quoted 1500 for labor plus the cost of an engine. I'd rather buy one from another forum member but if I have to do ebay, then I guess I'll just have to. Any tips or words of advice are welcome. Honestly, I'd just like to drive the car off a cliff right now because I'm so frustrated. LOL.

The engine blew a few days ago with two holes in my drain pan and two in my engine block, along with a snapped half-axle. I was looking around for an AMU engine and was seeing about the same costs as you mentioned. I pretty much decided that, in my case, the cost involved were greater than the value of the car, but best of luck to you! Keep us updated on what you find out. I may change my mind on fixing mine, lol
