Default Engine Code

My 04 18l 225 check engine light came on, so I had Autozone pulll the code. They got a 3081, which does not seem to relate to anything on my search of this forum. Text said it was emmision related. Reset it at the store and it has not come back on...yet.

Anyone have more insight....

It may not come back. If it does, I would start with coolant temp sensor.

I am something of a wrench - well...back in the 70's, but not afraid totackle a job that should be DIY. Is the sensor easy peasy? Anyone have a drawing of the location, procedure, etc.?

OK - the light came on again, so presumably it needs a sensor or t-stat....any suggestions how to narrow this down?

I will have Autozone pull the code again to make certain I am chasing the same problem.....btw, can I purchase a code reader of my own at a reasonable price?
