Default engine knock

Yes it has been brought up before, and many suggest the chevron injector and valve cleaner stuff.
I did that, when i did it, my fuel guage took 30 minutes to go to FULL, but it still works fine.
Engine knock(that old engine sound)is still there. What can be done about it? Is my car gonna sound like a diesel forever? Should I even chip it? Is it safe?
I know many questions but since everybody knows about the issue maybe there are some answers out there, thanks in advance.

Is it loud knocklike when you accelerate? Or is like 10 times a second when you're idling?

There's a reason that audi and vw put all thath sound insulation over and under the engine. I asked the same question and apparently all the 1.8t engines have really loud lifter noise. You can live with it or you could try using a thicker oil to help quiet it down.

To be honest every single German car I have owned has had engine knocking. - From the basic 3 series to the 2002 745I I currently have. - Mind you its not as loud as the 3 series, but its still there.

My A8 has a bit of noise, but you have to REALLY listen for it, but its there.

The TT. - I dont hear it unless I'm next to a wall or something... then I hear it... However if I up my RPM's it goes away... Mind you I'm assuming at that point the engine sound is covering it up.

I wouldn't stress unless its EXTREMELY loud... lifter noise is normal.

ok... thanks a lot, i guess i have to deal with it... it does go away when I accelerate but I sure can hear it when I'm listening to the engine bay with the hood opened... I will try a thicker oil probably and some water meth later...
