hey, last night it was slippery because of the rain. my ESP light turned on, and wouldnt turn off. This morning, i started my car, and everyhting was fine? has anyone had this happen? why?

 

yea this whole light turns on and then goes off once you turn your car off then back on the light is gone...

happens to me with my EPC light, but i kinda wanna get that one fixed.

 

ESP is one of Audi's traction control features.
Your car was just doing what it was suppose to... Prevent your tires from spinning, and you from sliding all over the road!


EPC is Electronic Power Control. Two very different lights, that cause two completely different headaches!

 

I hope he knew what it was for. I think his question was why did it stay on. The ESP light is supposed to flash while engaging during traction loss.

A reason it would stay on(if there areNO problems) is when you, yourself, turn the ESP feature off.

The reason is may remain on (if there IS a problem) would be your MAF possibly going bad or other sensors going bad.

I would have someone run codes on a vagcom to see if anything wasstored without throwing a CEL. This might point to a faulty sensor.

 

One would hope, but it's never safe to assume. Since he said the light turned ON. This made me think ESP was already engaged.
You yourself just said the ESP light stays on when this feature is off... I'm pretty sure this was just due to the inclement weather.
If the "problem" continues then you may wish to look further into it.

the light FLASHES when ESP is needed to control traction. Its not supposed to stay steady on and remain on unless MAF is unplugged/bad or you turn ESP off by pushing that ESP button above the radio.

 

My ESP light would come on intermitently about once a week. Restarting would make it go off for several days, then back on again. I found a very light coating of oil from the K&N filter. Cleaned the element in the MAF and all has been well for a month and a half now. May be worth a check.

 

yea my esp light was one after my wreck, changed my maf and it went off..the dealership said the maf was causing it to go off....who knows why that would have anything to do with your traction control..but hey check the maf

 

can anyone help plzzzz my traction control light has come on after I had my car valeted and stays on it wont go off the garage say its not there fault they scanned the car an no fault codes come up plzzzz help me ive spent loads on this car
