Default exhaust option..

Ok i wanted to know.. im not looking to get any significant hp gain but i would like a little throughtier sound.. i guess you could say similar to a 350z. anyway, i wanted to know if it was possible to just switch out the muffler with a Dynomax, or something else, and a) not have to do any welding or crazy work, b) it will open the exhaust up a little and give a nicer sound and last c) i can use the stock tips
thanks

you cant make a 1.8 turbo sound like a 3.5L V6.... sorry.
No, you cant just swap mufflers since the muffler is far from standerd
you can use the stock tips.

Honestly it sounds like you just need to remove the res and be done with it

im about to do a search to find out how to the res removal, but are there any worries about this, running rich/lean, throwing a CEL, not passing inspection, anything ?

If you're looking for a "throatier" sound from your exhaust, check out Remus.
It's expensive, but sounds damn good! There are sound clips on the Remus website, and YouTube; if you're interested.

it just helps lower sound, nothing else. By looking at the pics of a stock catback, you should be able to cut the res off and then use 2 exhaust clamps and a strait pipe to put replace it, just need a sawzall

I really hope you dont buy one since it wont really net you any gains since its stock diam and worthless if you go with a bigger turbo

you say it lowers sound.. you mean takes it away or gives a lower/deeper sound ?
What happens when the average person who doesnt mod cars, and owns a TT, do when their muffler or cat converter gets a hole or whatever and has to be replaced? another stock one? There are no other options?
I didnt want to go the whole DP, full catback.. i just wanted to see if there was a simple easy way to get some better sound.
I know i said muffler, but what about changing out the cat converter for a after market company.. possible.. better.. ?

louder and deeper. There are a few here that have done it, might be some posted on utube.

A normal person would shell out probably $1k for a new stock catback or have it welded up (less likely).

I'm not sure when I plan to go BT. That could possibly be a few years away.
In the meantime however I've met a few people who work at a muffler shop. We've discussed a few options regarding my Remus plans... The exact plan is classified information though! I will say that there will be gains...

The last time mr car was in the shop we ran it without the muffler.....sounded sick a$$ hell!!! You can always have a flange welded right before the muffler with a moveable door and slide it open when you want a deeper/throatier sound and then close it back up when you dont !!! Its a cheap option but will do the job just fine and your cat and o2 sensors are unaffected.
