Default FINALLY, got my parts ordered.

Well I finally freed up some cash to get my timing belt kit ordered from ECS. Took some time to get caught up from being between jobs and the holidays and whatnot.

My car has been down with a blown waterpump since well before Christmas, and now I'm so close to having it back I can hardly contain myself. One of the techs at work is doing the work for $300 since I dont want to roll the dice with my cylinder head until I'm a little more familiar with the procedure. Plus they have all the tools to do it quickly and correctly.

So after 3 or so months of not having my car, and a little over a month driving other peoples TT's (easily as frustrating as it is educational) I'm within sight of the final payoff. Thats going to be a good day.

I may have sourced a freshly rebuilt T3/T4 turbo for the low, low price of $5. Ive got an Intercooler fogger, Methanol/Water injection Kit, Sirius radio, and fresh set of Iridiums ready to go in as soon as its back up to par, so the DenimTT is coming back with a vengance. I had to share my excitement.

No missing numbers. A friend of mine picked it up from a friend of his for $5. So if we dont use/need it for one of the Grassroots cars its mine for the same price he payed. He got a ball bearing T66 at the same time that we plan to use on the race carif theres enough room in the enigine bay. If the T66 goes in, the Hybrid is mine.

Fresh rebuild, hasnt been used yet. External wastegate with an 18lb spring. I think its a 58 or 60 trim originially off some Ford. I can either get an ATP manifold with the T3 flange or fabricate one myself. Theres a few other turbos at the raceshop I could use (a Saab T3/T4 internally wastegated with a smaller trim, the T66 if it doesnt fit, etc.) but I really want the Ford one as I think it would be the best for the 1.8. If it doesnt work out I could get an EVO MR turbo for around $100 or a few other variants in the same price range. I'm really lucky in the people I know, and the people they know.

I also found out that the A3 with the 2.0T FSI uses a HUGE front mount intercooler that I'm going to try and source from work.It sits snug in front of the radiator and is easily the same surface area. Plus it wont be obvious that im running a FMIC to the casual observer increasing sleeper status.

I think it would work best with a 225 or Longitudinal intake manidold, but I have to take some measurements and check clearances before I'm sure it will work.

Im working on getting access to ElsaWeb which is Audis parts database which will make reseaching this kind of stuff alot easier then waiting for each application to come through the shop.

i've been looking at Apr's intake manifold for the 225 and i will be calling them on MON to discuss the plans i really want to know about the throttle body they use and how much power etc it will bring( i know it says around 50hp with the stage 3+ kit but of course i dont have that nor do i want it for that much money)

I think they use the RS4 TB for thier manifold.

I know on my old 2.2L normally aspirated you could see 7-12hp from an intake manifold and TB. Then again moving from a 56mm to a 62mm TB was only $125 so it was far more cost effective.

yeah its a little more than i want to pay but if i can work something out with APR then i'll do it. I think they are one of the best tuners for our cars. dedicating all their R&D time on the V-DUBS. i havent seen to many other companies making intake manifolds for the 225. other than Dahlback and maybe ATP

atp has no intake man for any car. And before you do anything you might wanna do a little more research before spending money. You might just wanna hold for for a few more weeks because a few vortex'ers are flow testing almost every manifold (including the apr one) here soon.

Here is 12 good pages of reading, now get started. http://forums.vwvortex.com/zerothrea...254&page=1

The testing will include:
OEM transverse small port
OEM transverse big port
Dahlback
RMR
Hypertune/FullRace
007 small port
007 big port
ABD
APR

All can fit the 225 except i dont think ABD makes a driver side tb.
