Default Fire Extinguisher Mount

Hey TTrs,

Has anyone fab'd up a Fire Extinguisher Mount for their TT. I've seen and had ones that bolt up to the front of the passenger seat for other cars (i.e. brey-krause) but haven't been able to find anything for a TT.

Thought about making my own. Anyone try or is it a PITA?

Thanks!
Ron

I mounted mine to the little plastic cover where the jack is. IMO its the best place to mount them since they can't be seen unless you lift the hatch.

Thanks! In my case I need it within drivers reach - req'd for PCA track events. So I fab'd up a metal plate about 8" x 5", 1/8" thick and bolted it to the front, underside of the passenger seat. There's a metal bar there with 2 pre-drilled holes to attach to. It'll take a #8 bolt and a #10 if you open the hole a bit. To the plate I attached my fire extinguisher bracket.

Yup, this was the design I ended up using with some mods. Problem was though that the plate was touching the floor and restricted seat movement fwd/bwd. So I put a bend in the plate about a 1/3 of the way down raising it 1 1/2 - 2 inches off the floor. The height is now perfect but by putting the bend in the plate it effectively shortens the mounting points for the FE. Two pieces of metal extensions from Home Depot solved that problem.
