Flutter sound = dieing DV?
So I was reading through a few posts about others that posted about a fluttering sound after you rev up/change gears. Mines making it, fairly loud too, stock everything as far as I can see. In some of the posts people claimed the internals of the DV could be worn out causing this sound? If true, is their a way I can test this with what I have at home. I planned on buying the Forge DV sooner or later. Looks like it may be sooner then expected.
Boost gauge, will help you, also but if you have a bad DV it will throw a code. So if you have no code you should be good, Any mods as of right now? I would say get a boost gauge and a DV, those will be your best first two mods if you plan on doing alot in the future. They will save you alot of trouble.
It's been described as a "Honking" noise. From what you are describing that sounds like it could be the case. Your choices are to replace it with a new OEM one or pick up one of the aftermarket DV's.
At the moment the cars 100% stock. Which is nice for me hehe. No codes have been brought up and the only one that ever Did show up was "P1114".
I don't have a clip of it ATM, but tomorrow afternoon ill get a small video of it. I'll scope out autometer as well for Boost Gauges and more then likely ill just pick up the Forge DV from ECS this friday.
I'm just hoping the fluttering sound isnt indicating something Is wrong and im damaging the turbo mildly. Ill just keep it gentle until im 100% sure.

Small flutter is normal and should be ok, when you let of the gas and you hear a high pitched squeal then that is when you want to be really worried that is not good because the DV isnt releasing the boost and its pushing backwards on the turbo, not a good idea to have that happening. Good luck mate!
If ithappens at low boost and its fine at full boost, that is normal. If you dont have an intake you can take the top off the airbox and filter out and drive it around the block. If you hear a raped goose, you have a bad valve,if it just sounds louder your fine.
When mine does the fluttering it kinda seems like it doesnt know if it should be open or closed so it keeps doing both rapidly, hence the fluttering. Now I have the Bailey DV but Im wondering if I should get the Forge that has the different springs since I went to a bigger tuebo and higher pressure. Im thinking maybe the Bailey is not strong enough for the higher pressure. What yall think?
bailieys are suppose to be nicer than the forge valves. It should also be adjustable with either differnt springs or by just adding shims/washers.
The flutter i believe comes from the stock turbos being so low in CFM's that 5-7 psi is very little air. Switch to a 28r or bigger and that shouldnt be a problem. Also a direct manifold source would also give better responce along with moving it closer to the TB.

The Bailey DV I have didnt come with anything to adjust with, I will have to see about getting a new one that is adjustable. I did have a forge about 5 yrs ago but it had the rubber diaphrams and it gave an engine code so I went to the Bailey. But maybe they have some better baileys now. Also I did go to a bigger turbo (not the GTRS) but I didnt have the fluttering with the K03. My fluttering seems to happen when I am only at part WOT and the DV just doesnt seem to know if it should open or close so it flutters.
