Yes, and when the plate is really hott or really cold it will chatter more also. Like after hard driving at high rpms or right when you first start it up in the morning. No performance drop just a chatter is all. Its kinda nice makes people stare.....

How hard is it to keep the engine running? I know the whole point of a flywheel is to keep the motor going and it just seems to me that dropping to a 14lb or and 7-8lb flywheel would make it a lot harder to keep from stalling and be harder on the engine becuase you would have to rev it higher to start off. This may not be true at all mind you it is just my thoughts does anyone have any insight into this?

the lighter weight like the billet steel FW is actually better for the engine(less wear)....less rotating mass for the engine to deal with...

If you are talking about starting off in first, it will be alittle tricky at first but after you get used to it, and how you have to use your right foot to start you will notice that it gets easier.

Thanks for all the info this is a great forum i am becoming more and more impressed everyday! What is the lightest you would recommend going and what is the lightest you can go? If you had to choose a weight which one would you go with? I am thinking of building a car and reducing the rotational weight as much as possible (wheels, drive shafts, axles, and flywheel any other ideas?) Instead of adding HEAPS of power to overcome the weight i think taking the weight out will be better off. Let me know what you think (sorry for hijacking this thread)

Well here is how I would start with rotational weight reduction, flywheel (a steel one), ECS lightweight crank pulley (not underdrive!), lightweigh wheels. And that is about it, I dont know if there is anyone who makes lighweight internal parts but that could add some HP also. For the rest of the weight reduction, you have battery, seats (especially if urs are leather) and remove the spare tire. Then if you have a shitload of $$$ you can go out and get all the body panels in carbon fiber.

i would go with the 14lbs fw, less chatter and still 8lbs less than stock.
