I am thinking about replacing my DV. Can I get some opinions on the APR R1?

Seen alot of mixed reviews. The first batch went out with too weak of a spring and some people say theirs have torn with just a chip and others have help fine with 40psi. However if you do have problems, i believe they will take it back and correct it.

OK.
What am I looking for with these different springs?
I am chipped, and currently running the Yellow spring. Car is running good, but I want to try the Blue spring, but am not certain what to look for.
I don't want to overload this tiny turbo.

How can I tell if the valve is dumping properly? Am I understanding correctly, if the spring is correct, I will maintain constant, greater boost longer?

Stay away from the Blue Spring. Actually I used the Yellow spring at first since I am chipped/Revo Tuned, 42DD DP, Blue Flame, and a few other mods. But with the Yellow spring I actually lost performance. I switched back to the Green Spring with 2 shims and the car runs 100% better and holds boost fine with much faster response time.

A tougher spring isn't always better. Try the Green Spring with 2 shims and see how that works for you.

^ *cough cough*

here's a run down

green spring = stock psi
yellow spring = chipped/diode mod
blue spring = BT ( ~21psi - 29psi)
red spring = B MFing T (~30psi +)

though i sold my Forge 007 DV, and started using the 710N... i could honestly say the 710N feels and performs slightly better. also the "blow-off" sound (re-diverting of the air) is louder~
actually, it's up to you. find what you see is fitting. that's just the basic guideline

Here is a break down of the springs and the suggested boost ranges:
Green 5-15
Yellow 15-23
Blue 23-30
Red 30+

so does it mean i have to remove my yellow spring since im not chipped? when i turn my car on, it reads 18psi. i have 225. according to ttstuff.com, the estimates are
Valve Spring color coding

Green - 5-15 PSI

Yellow - 15-23 PSI

Blue - 23-30 PSI

Red - 30 + PSI

and according to the old info for TT, it was

Q. How much boost can I run in my TT?
A. Here is a rule of thumb:
Stock 225: 17-18psi
Chipped 225: 22-23 psi
Stock 180: 14 psi
Chipped 180: 18 psi

did i get this wrong?

That is from the old FAQ and incorrect (one of the reason for the new one). The stock boost for a 225 is 1bar/14.5psi. You would benifit from going to the green spring and maybe a shim.

Personally, I think some people use too strong of a spring on their cars and wonder why the heck they loose performance.
The above are just some guidelines and you will have to experiment what works best for you. I am boosting around 23-25psi and I am using the
Green Spring with 2 shims. The yellow was just too stiff and it didn't respond quickly enough. My performance is noticable stronger with the GREEN
spring then it is with the Yellow spring.Another member here switched back to the green spring plus 2 shims and he also noted better overall performance
then with the yellow.

As soon as I can find some open road this morning, I am going to test the green spring w/2 spacers. I will post results. Seems that with 2 spacers the green spring would have almost the same affect as the yellow spring. Is it that sensitive?
Also, I am going to assume that the shims go under the spring? Shims in first - then the spring?
