Default Front License Plate

In California, like most other states, it is illegal to Not have a front license plate.
Moreover, all cars sold in the U.S. is required to have a front license plate bracket, and hence the Audi TT's have them too.

It's really ugly though.

I'm thinking about replacing the front bumper trim. Here's an example from eBay: http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eB...198455602&rd=1

The thing is, that specific part doesn't fit the TT. I called the dealer, but they didn't have the part. Is it possible to replace the trim on an '08 TT?

Do you guys leave the front license plate on? If not, what do you do with the empty bracket?

Heh, this section is predominantly MkI TT's. So hell if we know

I've seen just that center piece on eBay actually, but knowing Audi they'll only sell you the whole grill.

im sure it is... just ask the dealer if they have a front grille for a TT that doesnt have anything on it...

if worse comes to worse set aside a couple hours on the weekend and see if you can tidy it up on your own...

but im sure there has to be a solution to this

I live in CA too, but hated the look of the license frame...so I did the Magnetic License Plate mount mod on mine. $25 worth of magnets, some epoxy and a blood blister (damn those magnets are strong)

Yes I agree that the american front plate looks like crap on the MKII audi tt. I had a MK I and loved it, and I just bought a MKII and I can say that it is a great car as well, It doesnt have the classic lines that the MKI has but I love it still the same, has anyone checked to see if we can get a European plate holder.

well, might as well keep it going.

My car came from PA, no front plate required there. Refuse to put holes in the front of the car for a plate, so I run plateless in the front. Been ticketed twice for it (I'm not in PA), paid out $190 so far. Euro plates draw more attention than no plate, and a plate in the window isn't any better than no plate at all. FYI.

I got a 75$ ticket here in IL for no front plate. Eventually ended up putting it on but when I get a new front bumper I will be going plateless again.
