My girlfriend's 2002 TT has a problem that I hope is something simple.

Sometimes she uses her headlights in the daytime when it is foggy, etc. When she uses them during the day, she will sometimes forget to turn them off. The car used to chime when she left her lights on. It no longer does it, which has caused her battery to die a couple of times, which of course necessitates her getting a jump from some good samaritan.

I would like to get this fixed. She is a teacher in a very bad part of town and I don't like her car dying in this area. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Does the door chime work at all? Should 'ding' when the door is open and the key is still in the ignition, and have a steady tone when the door is opened with the lights on.

I've never paid any attention to where that sound comes from. Will have to pay attention when I get in the car to leave work tonight.

 

Do a search for 'IC Chime' either here or on AudiWorld.. someone posted how to check/replace it.
