The shifter rod is 10mm OD. I like the leather boot in the TT. There's moving plastic parts covered in grease down there. I wouldn't want to allow crap to get in my shift box.

my center console is gutted. my shifter is exposed. dirt isnt a big problem actually. problem with a gated shifter that i see is that there isnt much side to side on the shift throw. sure youre not gonna end up with one gate that all your gear changes fit in?

going to work on this more tomorrow and next week. Im sure with the diameter of the stock shifter it would be 1 huge "gate". Thats why it will be a small diameter like 3/8 or something. Anyways right now my car is torn apart awaiting a tip and dp. So im back to that, ill update this soon.

Well, with the diameter of the stock shifter (3/8"ish, im sure its in mm but something close to that) there isnt enough sideways travel unless you build up like an inch higher so that theres more side to side movement. I think that might look kinda funny, I would like it low how it is now.

The other option is making the shaft thinner. Anyone know how much work is involved in removing that? I would have to cut it off, drill it out to say 1/4dia. and weld in a new shaft. Not the easiest project...

On a good note, my bumper is fixed...

i figured that'd be the problem you run into with the shifter. That idea wasnt new to me, i've looked at it before.

Bumper looks great. I shaved the euro plate piece on my old car. My bondo work was good, but i had a really hard time matching the paint on a silver car, made the whole job look like ****. Yours looks excellent though, nice work.

Thanks. Had it professionally painted. Cost a pretty penny but it matches 100% perfect.
