Default Gauge problem or Engine running a bit hot?

I am running a bit over the middle on my oil temp gauge on cluster. About half way between middle and the next peg. With thermostat and green top replaced 8k ago. Do you guys think this is a cluster issue or the engine running a little warm?

this is where vagcom comes in handy. you should be running about 90 degrees C. Theres a way to check that thru the climate control system, but being that I have vagcom, i never learned it.

btw, don't forget bad coolant temp sensor... may not be the cluster, even if the gauge is reading wrong.

did you check actual coolant temp through the HVAC controls (see faq)? If they are reading high, your are prolly running hot, if they are not, then its likely just wacky gauges
