getting taken advatage of from Audi mechanics?
I have a 2001 Audi TT and keyless entry from my remote isn't working, so I took it to Audi. They said a sensor has got wet in the carand for the sensor to be replaced and work with the key FOB would be $2000 to $4,000. So for now I just unlock the car with the key but does that amount of money sound right?
Secondly, the rear plastic window at the bottom is leaking when it rains. Think I could just use some type of glue to seal this up? Thanks in advance for your input.

2k-4k???? for a sensor?!
Did the tech also say that he'd do it at his house??????
I mean, come on... even for a stealership, that's insane. I don't know much about my key FOB except for the fact that it's working... and now, not to let it get wet.

just the window of opportunity the dealer tried to exploit by quoting a price like that to someone that is at least half as sensible as rainman
Kinda curious how many people buy into that.

That's insane no matter what way you look at it. i would never pay that much for something of this small caliber. you could buy so many other things with 2k.
Welcome to the world of Audi. - I have felt that sensation since the moment I bought my car.
- However You will learn to tolerate these types of things. - Best bet is to look for a used one at a Junk yard or Ebay.
I have ended up fixing my car with used parts or aftermarket parts several times. - By doing it myself ..and finding the parts online I have saved myself THOUSANDS of dollars.
For example, by alternator went out. - The dealer. - Parts/Labor - $1000.
I took the alternator out myself. - Figured out that the regulator was bad. - Took it to an alternator shop. - They fixed it for $73 including tax. - I put it back in myself. - Took around 2 hours total for labor, and a day to have the part fixed. - Saved myself $900 some odd dollars there alone... - Not to mention I got to know my car a bit better!
Best of luck!
