Getting a TT
Im looking at buying a 2005 Audi TT 1.8 with 18k on the odomotor and is quattro drive. Im coming from a 2004 Nissan 350z. Anyway I test drove a tt yesterday and absolutly fell in love. The handling is sharp and responsive. The car is insanely easy to drive, clutch is wayyyyyyyyyy too light, but I love the tranny. I got to push it a little bit around some corners and then drove the same ones in my z and the difference is unerving, the tt has a bit more body roll stock but help the corner amazingly well. AWD FTW!!! I do have a couple questions if you guys dont mind.
1. The things slow, is there any engine management available for it?
2. I know eliminating the stock cats and using test pipes will gain me some power, I dont care about legallity Ill explain my z in a minute. But how much power can I gain?
3. Do you know of any good parts websites? I have 2 grand or so waiting to drop on some parts.
4. Im only gonna buy this car If I can make it keep up with my z in a straight line. Id much rather drive the twisties, but I need to be able to keep up with friends.(07 shelby cobra, 3 zs, couple m3s, and a vette)
Thanks guys, Im really looking forward to picking this car up. Its Blue with grey leather interior.

read the first couple of pages. chips, 3" turbobacks, race pipes, lightweight flywheels, turbo upgradesand so on. there is tons of parts available for these cars. You can make it as fast as you want, it just takes money and knowing what to get for your goals.
Read the first couple of pages in the TT section, also (forums.vwvortex.com) under either the TT (mk1) section or techinical (1.8T) section. There is alot you can do with these cars, check out www.dragtimes.com for a few time slips of TT's in the 1/4mile. There are big turbo kits out there that will give you good gains, just do some looking around and if you have any questions feel free to ask.
Wow their running in the 12s on some of them. Holy shyt thats awesome. Im really liking this car even better. Thanks for the links/ help guys. Do any of you know any good places to buy the parts?
It all depends on what you want to get, some places sell the same part for cheeper but shipping is more you just have to check everything out, the question is what time in the 1/4 will you be happy with? Answer that and I am sure we can come up with some susgestions for you, also do you plan on Auto Xing your TT at all? Or are you trying to make it a straight line car? What is the TT you plan on getting?
The only interest I have for the tt is autocross and road racing. I go to the dragon 1-2 tims a year for the big zday event, and now instead of all zs and an evo its all zs an evo and a tt. I actually really dislike drag racing. I just want to beat zs on the highway. Occasional spirited cruise with some z buddies once a week or so. My goal is as close to 300hp at the wheels without changing out the turbo. Also I want to go with the dv/ bov combo i saw it on ttstuff.com http://www.ttstuff.com/Merchant2/mer...de=FMDVSPLTR-P
Just because I do like the sound of a blow of valve, and I know the tts need the recirculating thing to make them run correctly. Also what chip is going to up the boost the most. Im really looking for a standalone boost control like the hks fkon vpro, but I understand that wont work with the tts.

For the most part the chips are about the same... It depends on where you want to go after the chip. For example, if your going to buy the car and later on down the road put in a new turbo or whatever I would go with APR and there whole stage I, II, III, III+ thing... But at the end of the day each chip will do about the same... I have an O.CT just because stratmosphere (stratmosphere.com) is local for me and i am going to get their stage 3 at some point... So, if you really anticipate on going crazy with the car and really modding it i would hold off on the chip for a little until you know for sure what you truely will do to it. Thats just my 2 cents.
PS, good choice on the TTstuff splitter, i have heard many good things about it.

My goal is as close to 300hp at the wheels without changing out the turbo (not going to happen without n2o or way more $$$ than just upgrading the turbo). Also I want to go with the dv/ bov combo i saw it on ttstuff.com http://www.ttstuff.com/Merchant2/mer...de=FMDVSPLTR-P(i got one also, nice piece and easy to set/adjust)
Just because I do like the sound of a blow of valve, and I know the tts need the recirculating thing to make them run correctly (says who? im back to running a full bov again forge 004 link here). Also what chip is going to up the boost the most (depends on the chip and car 180 cars ~15psi and 225's ~18psi. but both can easily be ran at 20-22psi easy with a mbc/ebc). Im really looking for a standalone boost control like the hks fkon vpro, but I understand that wont work with the tts (i think you mean electronic boost controller or ebc, if so, it should work fine if thats what you have or want to use. most people use either greddy or apexi ebc's)
