H2O is quickly approaching, are YOU ready?
Travel/Pick-Up Times & Locations:
The VT crew will be leaving VT around 9am, should take 4-5 hrs to get to Route 17, I'll be leaving around 10, should put me down there about the same time, if not a little sooner. Tom and Becca, it takes me just over 2 hrs to get to Middletown, plan accordingly, Ryan, same deal, google maps puts Milford, DE 4 hrs south of the I-87/SH17 intersection, but we'll be traveling in the afternoon thru some citys, and I'm thinking rush hour is gonna bite us in the ***. Say closer to 6pm?
I'll need meeting points to pick you guys up along the way. Toll booth parking lots work well, since I won't have to leave the highway to find you, but gas stations right off of the highway exits work just as well, just give me an exit number.
Another note, when I said 'whos going' I meant total number of people (eg, you, or you and a friend), but I dont think i made that clear. Tom (Wintermute) has another friend with a car that wants to camp with us that I had no clue about, Ryan, if you wanna suprise me, I'll take it alot better now than I will if I pull up to find a crew with you. ; )
Camping space is limited, and logistics are already a bitch.
Supplies/funds:
Sleeping bag - definately
Tent - maybe You guys have any ideas for sleeping arrangements? We have 4-6 people, and can use 3 tents on the site. I'm bringing my tent, Becca is crashing with me, as I've already said, Ryan, Tom (and your buddy possibly), and Jeff, I guess bring a tent if you have it, but you may need to crash with someone else if the park people give us **** about too many tents.
Bring long pants and a long sleeve shirt for the night, I don't know how the weather is gonna be, it can get cool and breezy, or cool and not breezy. Normally that would be insanely comfortable, but the black flys around the coast are a bitch. Plan for the worst, hope for the best.
Those bugs bring me to my next item, Bug spray, its stressed right on the assateage website. Like I've mentioned before, if its breezy, the bugs are not bad at all, but if its calm, they are hell. Out of the 4 days I've slept near the beach down there, one was calm, but again, plan for the worst, hope for the best.
Snacks - We do usually eat lunch and dinner in town, but besides that, you're on your own for the evening.
BYOB - Bring or buy your own, obviously. Maybe someday UNICEF will get into the catering business, but until then, you're gonna have to provide for yourself (for the most part, there may be a 30 rack of bud light or coors or something floating around)
Money - The state park charges a $10 admissions fee on top of the campsite rental. ********.... I dunno if thats per person, per car, or what. I'll cover the campsite cost, you guys cover your admissions.
Speaking of admissions, if I remember right, its somewhere in the ballpark of $10 to get into the BBQ at Ocean Downs on Saturday, roughly the same for the car show sunday, but we don't usually attend the actual show. By Sunday everyone is a little burned out, its usually a lazy morning, maybe some time mid-day on the boardwalk, buy some salt water taffy, and then the drive home.
Gas money, its about a tank to get down there, a tank for the weekend, and a tank to drive home, gas is pretty cheap in Deleware, we've tried to fuel up before we got to OC in the past, and again on the way home, its a little more expensive right in OC.
Oh, on the note of driving, in the past we've hit up one of the local go-cart places for some fun filled racing. Its not a full night usually, more like 2-3 races before people have spent more than they like. I'm up for probably $50 in racing, but nobody else ever is.... : ( Usual gocart prices apply, I can't say exactly how much, and you don't have to race obviously if you don't want to spend the money.
Cameras
Obviously you're gonna bring them, and obviously you're gonna take a bunch of pics, but, if you have a video camera you feel like bringing, that'd be awesome, so I'm not the only one filming footage for a possible H2O video. The more cameras the better. 05 was good, we had 2 video cameras, and we used a bunch of still shots, 06 theres no vid, because I was the only one taking footage, and it just wasn't enough. Footage driving down of each others cars, obviously the night life, **** like that. It'd be appreciated.
There are shower facilities at this place too, so bring your shower stuff, nobody likes a stinky TT'er.
I think thats it.
*Oh, I'll be bringing my laptop and Vag Cable, but I only get about 15 minutes of use out of the battery, so if anyone has a new(er) laptop they wanna bring, that'd be handy. I have the newest version of vag-com on my flash drive, so we can have it installed in no time. DOES have to have a 9-pin connector though, I don't have the USB version.

Matt - Just me showing up. No big deal. As I said in the other H20 thread, I think Walmart right off 113 after Rt 1 and Rt 113 split is best. The address is 939 N Dupont Blvd, Milford, DE. 6 or 630 is fine. Anyone in your cruise have a GPS unit with ETA? That would be nice if I could get a call when you're 2-2.5 hrs out as Milford is a 2hr drive for me.
I'm bringing a tent.. says it sleeps 4 but I'm guessing 3 is the most. I'm an old man at 26 so I'm going to have a blow up mattress in there as well. I'd say 2 people is a safe bet.

I can bring my laptop if necessary. I'll also bring my handy dandy pocket sized code reader.
Edit: Ryan I have verzion, and will be using my EZ Nav. So estimated time of arrival won't be a problem.
I think Matt has this feature as well.

Its $20 for the site, big deal. If you wanna pitch in, I'd accept donations, but I'm not worried about that. You'll still have your $10 admissions fee to make you feel like you paid your way.
Firewood, theres a ban like I mentioned, I called the park, they said theres plenty of places to buy wood around the area, so its probably best and easiest to do that.
Oh, 2 way radios, if you have em, bring them it'll make navigating the city ina sea of VW/Audi's easier when a car gets seperated from the pack.
