Default Headlight Reflectors Removed

Finished..... Much Better. I've wanted to do that for a long time. It's a lot of work: removing the wheels and bumper cover, heating the headlights in the oven, filling the holes, painting, etc. All to get a look that will only be appreciated by myself and other sharp TT owners. The reflector is so big, it should be on a Buick [:'(] and always looks out of place on a TT.

Well, you could have gone the expensive way, and bought a set of euro spec headlights.

If you're super lucky, you could work out a deal with someone in europe, because I'm sure to be different, they'd WANT reflectors in their headlights. Even trade!

They do look much better w/o the reflectors though. Stupid US laws.....

I can pull my bumper without removing the wheels, here's how:

I crank the wheels to one side undo the wheel well liner screws on the front half, pull it back and get the 2 nuts in the lower wheel well, crank the wheel the other way and do the same to the other side. saves a few minutes on the bumper removal but your right, the headlight reflector delete is a pretty involved process- I did mine over a long weekend so i didn't have to rush the paint work.

output?

It affects aesthetics, thats it. All you're doing is getting rid of the big stupid reflector on the outside edge of the headlight (you can see mine in my sig). There are 4 little holes left behind after the reflector is popped loose, which people usually fill with bondo/epoxy, and then respray the entire headlight housing (the black part). Most try to color match the headlight to the body color, or sand everything smooth and paint gloss black.

This isn't my car but will give you an example of the end result of the project.

That looks great, painted to match! I was asking about light output, obvious the reflectivity promotes better light output.

The refector doesnt have a power source. Its basically the same thing on a childs bike. It only helps people with their headlights see your car when its parked at night

That's a big time saver. As long as you can get to those two 10mm nuts on each side. You wouldn't even have to jack the car up. I thought that was possible but everywhere I read, always said to remove the wheels. As far as the mod, it is time consuming but it doesn't cost much, only a can of paint and some bondo, and the result gives your car a little custom look.

That link just shows the painted housing with the reflector still installed. Post some pics of yours!
