I recently acquired a 2000 AudiTTMk1 Quattro (225hp) and it had some current issues that needed attention.
The two main issues are the temp and gas gauges weren't accurate. I read somewhere that these gauges are prone to malfunction. One morning i was driving through traffic and temp, based on the gauge and the climate control reading showed 114-120c...which is way too high. I had my trusted Audi tech check it out and scan results show normal temperatures hovering around 80c only. He he thinks the problem lies with the ECU. I am apt to believe him but also need inputs from the owners and experts here.
The previous owner told me that he had the immo deleted before and not long after that, the temp and gas gauges began to malfunction. Reason for immo delete was because the car simply refused to start one day.
Given this history, what would you suggest we do to resolve the issues? Are we on the right track? Is there something else we need to look into? Is there a permanent fix? Here is a photo of the errors that appeared, another one of possible explanations. My mechanic checked both the coolant level sensor and fuel level sensor and tested replacement parts but informed me that they were okay. Thanks in advance for your responses.
