Default Help: Audi TT vs. Porsche Boxster???

I am trying to decide between the purchase of a used Audi TT and a used Porsche Boxster (1999). Which of these cars would you rather have and why? The Boxster is the non S version (200hp)? Has anyone here driven both cars?

I'd go with a 225TT... Turbo = neat factor. I would think the TT would eat a non-S Boxster. But I may be biased..

well, for what i think, it depends what model of audi TT you want. i prefer the I-4 225 model. it is a lot easier to do the mods on that car than the boxster.
the stock I-4 225 is a little slower that the Boxster within 0-60.

I have a TT Quattro Roadster - 225hp 6-speed and would pick this over the Boxster any day. I drove both before I made my decision and actually drove the Boxster S which has a few more ponies. While the S has more standing start punch the TT is definitely more fun to drive given that turbo. Even the guy at the dealership (it was a Porsche/Audi/Jaguar dealership) agreed that for $20K brand new that the Porsche isn't worth it. Plus the TT looks way cooler and has more adaptability.

Off the block the 225 will hand the plain Boxster its ****. The 3.2 though is what you'll need to compete with the S, although a chipped 225 just might as well do too.

I would say go with the styling you like better. Like the TT, the Boxster has big aftermarket support - including superchargers.

Both are amazing cars! If you looking for speed hands down the 225TT if your more about getting the looks I think the Porsche. The 225TT chipped will beat the Boxster S. I found that out 1st hand. Either way you go you win

I think Cayman is closer to the new TT than Boxster.

I would take a TT 225 over a 1999 Boxster however... between a 2000 up Boxster S or a 2003 up Boxster... I'd go Porsche. The handling is better on the Porsche (all years). The performance is on par or better with respect to the model years that I mentioned. I'm selling my 1997 Boxster but, will replace it in a year or so with a 2003 Boxster S. When I do that I'll probably get rid of my TT.
