Question Help me find my G22 VSS Speed Sensor

Hi Guys,

I am baffled. I don't seem to be able to find the G22 VSS Vehicle Speed Sensor on my 04 TT 225. Now I am not talking about the ABS sensors but the G22 Sensor that controls the Speedometer.
My Speedo died a few days ago and I am trying to take the Speed Sensor out to clean it or if that doesn't work replace it.

It is suppose to be located somewhere on top of the transmission housing. I took the covers, the AirCleaner and MAF off to look at the tranny housing but I can't find anything that resembles a Speed Sensor. Can anyone help me located that darn thing?

Thanks you!

look straight down past the shift linkage, on the side of the tranny, next to the motormount.

I THINK thats what you're looking for.

I suggest bending a wrench (if needed) it get it out. My last car required a trans drop, but I got a way with a *custom* tool.

So is it on the drivers side or passenger side of the transmission? I was looking at the shift linkage and the Motormount on the drivers side but I still can't find that speed sensor. Some people tell me that I have to take the Passenger side Wheel off and wheel well cover to get to it. I just hate to disassemble my car if I don't have to.

Thanks for your help!.

Nope, it's not the Rpm sensor which is the G28 sensor and it's fine. It's the G22 VSS(Vehicle Speed Sensor). I think I will take it to the dealer and have them fix it. Might as well since it is still under warranty with a 100 buck deductible.
