I am looking to buy a 225hp Coupe. I found one that I may be interested in but I am very confused by the dealer. I searched and my intuition seemed to be correct, but I would like some confirmation. The car is a 2002 and it is a quattro. In the picture, it has a dual exhaust but the dealer is insistant that it is a 180hp. I think they are wrong but I want to be certain before I make a purchase. Also, I was wondering if this car has aftermarket wheels. I will try to post a picture, but if it doesn't work, bear with me. Thank you in advance.

5spd = 180
6spd = 225

 

And yes... wheels are aftermarket... look at cincy for hp rating

 

How would staring at me help him tell if it was a 180 or 225??

 

Also pop the hood. The 225 will have a different engine cover with two pop rivets in the front whereas the 180 will use the VW rivets and will have them in the middle. This is an example:

The top is the 225 and the bottom is the 180

 

I thought all of the 180hp had the single exhuast and the 225hp had the dual exhausts. Am I wrong?

They do, but you can put a dual ON a 180.
