Default Hey everybody!

I've been looking through a few of the posts on here, and I have been impressed with the knowledge base. I bought my TT sometime back around April, and was immediately taken by it. However, my experiences since then have been like a roller coaster. Unfortunately, I have pretty much no knowledge about cars, aside from being able to change my oil and tires. In retrospect, I may have slipped up by buying an brand of car that probably belongs in a more experienced garage, but who can really blame me after that first test drive .
Anyway, I have some things I'd like to get some feedback on if possible. When I bought it, it had 27000 miles on it (it's the '02 225hp version), and shortly thereafter I took it in for a 30k mile checkup. After I got it back, I immediately noticed that it seemed to have lost some of its power. I don't know if this is because I had just not driven it for a couple of days, or if it was just because it was the middle of the summer (I live in Alabama, so it gets a little warm). Also, instead of doing what the manual said should be done at 30k, they did all the stuff outlined in the 40k check, basis being that they wanted to get that in before the original warranty ran out so that Audi would pay for it instead of me.
It feels like it has some of its kick back, but I almost have to shift perfectly at the exact RPM to really feel myself getting pinned to the back of the seat. Is this just the nature of the vehicle, or do you guys think something may have gone wrong when they did the checkup? I have since had a 40k mile checkup (they did everything outlined for 40k miles in the manual -- or so they said), but it still feels the same. Which brings me to my next question....
The original warranty has run out. When I took it in at 40k, I had broken a lugnut and broken the handle on one of the back seats that you use to pull it up. They charged $82 to get the broken part of the lugnut out of the wheel, charged $55 to pull back the upholstery and replace the handle, charged whatever amount for the checkup labor, and over $200 for parts. Total bill....$704. So best guess they charged me what??? $400 - $500 for an oil change??? Is this correct? When they told me what the amound was, I was shocked. What do you guys think about the situation?
And lastly, is it just me, or is 1st gear very weak on this vehicle? I get the most pull in 2nd and 3rd, and 6th (when above 70 mph).

Sorry it's so long. Thanks in advance for the help

-Michael

O yeah....sorry to make this post even longer, but when I first bought the car, I noticed the wind and road sounds coming in the driver side window were really, really loud. I took it in, and they said that the motor was really loose, and that someone had previously opened up the door to do work in it. They got it to quiet down a bit, but it's still loud. God it's annoying. Left ear, constant wooooooosh, right ear, music.

I'm new to the audi as well, however i do not have alot of " road noise " inside my car ...other than what I would expect from a sports car.

However ...first gear is more of a take off gear...get the ball rolling...i notice alot of pull through 2nd gear up...all gears have a good amount of pull in my car....

anyways...sounds like a good ride...the wind is odd....maybe it was in a wreck?

Im not too sure about the wind noise, but I bought a 02 225 with 30,000 not too long ago and I had to take mine in also. It cost me about 485 with the same checkups that you had done im sure, however I didnt have the handle or lugnut. About the power however, its so hard to tell what they did wrong but it definatly sounds like they left a vaccum line off or they messed with something. I know that if the Divertion Valve went out then that will cause you to lose power, also if your intake tube is starting to collapse and choke off your turbo that will cause you to lose power also. I dont suppose you have a boost gauge to see what you are running? That is really all that I can think of let me know if its any help. Good luck!

Thanks for your help....plz don't make me cry by hinting that someone may have wrecked it j/k I'm a man i can take it....maybe [8D]. Actually I just think someone busted the window at some point. I keep thinking I need to get someone to drive it so I can ride shotgun and see if the pass. side is as loud.
I'd really like to figure out why there was a performance drop. No boost guage, unfortunately. Like I said, I don't know much about cars, but I am not averse to digging around and learning what I can ( I know someone who is good with em, though). I wouldn't even know where to start to find the Divertion Valve or intake tube or vacuum line. It doesn't help that the Audi shop here sux ***** and has a completely negative reputation and complaints from pretty much everybody that has had to use them. I had to take my car in 5 times just for them to figure out why I wasn't getting any sound from the rear speakers.

Yea mine here isnt that great either but I found that the mechanics that work at the VW and the Porshe shops really knew what they were talking about, since the motors are kinda the same. I talked with them and have learned alot. But .good luck and let us know what happens

Deatsville, just above Prattville. I think it takes us about 45 minutes to get to 459, best I can remember.

i think it happens to all cars (the power drop feel). My LS1 TransAm that ran 12.4@114MPH felt fast after i had the cam and headers done on it,but after a while i wanted more power,it felt ordinary. I think its just getting used to the car, thats all. Anyways as for the road noise, one of the biggest things i noticed abot the TT was infact how QUIET it is,sothats definately not normal.

Yeah, it's pretty aggravating. But the window goes all the way up, so I don't understand what can be causing the problem.

Check the lower back half of the rubber seal. Take a credit card (ATM card - what ever you got) slide it in - if it goes in or slides around easy then maybe you need to replace the rubber seal.
