Default Hooray for problems!

So after 3 weeks of waiting the car made it into an Audi Authorized Dealer. They called today and wanted to know if the car was chipped since they think the "cold start" problems is due to something wrong with the program. $180 for them to reprogram it - gave the ok on that one. I have to hope that Does take care of the problem since their really isnt anything left to replace! Audi saw my Diesel geeks short throw and they claim they can fine tune it into a better one for $90 (score) it Is a bit notchy still after 1400miles. Then the big one being my clusters near death. Coming down on me at $1100 said and done O.O I guess as long as I know how much Gas I have for now I can Wait on that one. And apparently my 4-way hazard switch is shot and is apparently Notorious for crapping out. Really didnt even know it was shot!

As for that though - they said the computer didnt have any records of the car doing it's Complete shutdown thing so they cant diagnose it unless it can be duplicated =/ sigh. If it still has cold start problems after this trip then im really stumped since I just cant think of anything else that's related. Well guess hope for the best and see how it runs when I pick it up wendesday.

yeah what happened that you had to turn your car into dealer.

keep in mind that the dealer is always quick to say its a software remap problem.

Allright so the dealer called me back today - Every other problem on the car has been fixed Except the cold start problem. They cant reprogram my ECU since it's shutting down their systems. They're saying it's either because the cars Chipped or the ECU is fault. Soo, heres where I need some good info on how to check if ecu is chipped/modded/diode? or faulty. If any one has a Used OEM ECU for a 2000 Audi TT 1.8T Quattro Code ATC I will gladly buy it off of them if it's in working order.
I cant beleive my car Is chipped or Diode since the boost only spikes to 11lbs and stays constant at 9lbs under WOT. God how Happy I Would be if it is just a bad ECU. I get the car back saturday and they said they worked on the Deisel geeks short throw - Im curious to see how well they did with that. I couldnt get it "Unnotchy" to save my Life. And Ryan what happen was I went to start the car and the whole everything shut right down. I had no power at all to anything and anything that had settings reset. There was an electrical arch sound then it came back to life ever since. They cant diagnose something that cant be duplicated though sadly...Hope thats another ECU error....

Which revision on that ECU?

I still have the ECU from my 2000 quattro TT, but it's not stock. Has APR's 93 and 100 octane programs on it.

ECU part # is 8N0 906 018 S (S revision)

Some revisions are swappable I understand.... I'm gonna leave it to you to do the research if you're revision isn't the same.

$325 if you want it.

You sir, Are a LIFESAVER. I have called ARP/GIAC and Atleast several other places in search of an ECU for my car and im sick of my cellphone ha. NONE of them have an ecu that they could send me even w/ their Program on it in stock atm. Soo i've been pulling my hair out to avoid the dealers price lol...

Definitley hold that for me - and If some one can post a "How to Identify what your ECU Part # is" I would appreciate it. I go to get my car this saturday around noon and will be home around 2ish I hope. So hopefully by saturday night ill know my ECU # and Have an answer for you =).

Now if mine matches yours, when I plug that ECU in will it already be set on APR's 93 program? Ironically this will kill 2 birds w/ one stone since I needed a new ECU and Wanted to get chipped =). Please puzzle pieces fit!

Edit: So I found this pic of an ECU And im guessing the numbers to the right of the Audi rings are the ECU #. Is there an easier way to ID it? I have the V-Checker Pro from ECS Tuning laying around here some place...

Well, cars back in my driveway as of tonight. Shifts alot better and changing out the rear axle fluid/filter made it alot smoother too. Now that I know where the ECU is located (fairly easy to get to) I will take the wipers/cowl off tomorrow and write back what my #/Revision is. Hope it works since I started it at Holtz and car sputtered/stalled shut off. Took alot of spins for it to finally fire up.

I hope so too, I have no other use for it, and my quattro car recently decided to become FWD. Thinking its the haldex clutch pack... pricy.
