If you can't figure out how to lift your car high enough I highly suggest you dont tackle a clutch install on your own.

IMO.

The oil pan on a 1.8T is 1/2 thick aluminum cast, lifting it with wood could never damage the pan.
But like i said, you really only need about 2 feet of clearance to pull a clutch out of a TT. So a standard jack and 2 ton jack stands fully extended are more than enough to pull the trans out.

I'm not so sure about a 1/2.... i'd guess a 1/4" MAYBE. But with that said, as long as you don't jack from the center of the pan, it should be safe. the strength is around the edges.

You're whole operation of jacking 2' sounds a little iffy to me though.... be careful.

i'll help you jack it up...its scary no doubt...and yes you do need as tall as jack stands as possible...and you will need a racing jack(two pushes and its fully extended) and dont worry about the angle...we arent gonna jack just the front up...thats just dumb. i have 4 48in jack stands and used all four...car will be level.....

Please take a pic with the car that high. I would like to see it. Also, have you ever thought about two tall jacks in the front and two regular jacks in the rear?

That's the bottom line.
Your hospital bills will be more than paying someone qualified to do the job.
