Sounds like it is releasing early; there is no mention of alternate springs or shimming. They're instructions reference a "jamb nut" but it seems they are not selling the adjustable version now. Just got it a week ago.

Anyone else had to play around with this to get it right?

If there is a jamb nut then it should be a diaphragm valve. In which case you cannot change the springs because there is no piston.
By tightening the jamb nut you increase load on the diaphragm.

There is no jamb nut, only the threaded top, spring and piston. It seems their directions refer to a valve they don't currently offer. The stratmosphere site (www.stratmosphere.com) makes no reference to variable rate springs either.

I found this on the bottom of page 4 of the install instruction...

Adjustment of the HyperBoost Adjustable valve: When your valve is “all the way out†(completely counter-clockwise) that is your starting point (mimics the regular HyperBoost valve at that setting). Each clockwise rotation equals 1mm of pre-load. Preload would equate to earlier turbo actuation (throttle on) and later turbo charge release (throttle off). You can go as much as 5-6mm of pre-load. The jamb nut should be tightened to the base of the valve cap after adjustment. You should try more mild amounts of pre-load before moving on to anything radical (over 4mm).

outtie914, Thanks I have the install doc, that's the reference to jamb nut that apparently does not apply to the Core valve they now sell in addition to the Compact version (Dx I think). I found other web notations regarding the elusive "adjustable" model that seems not in production.

Even when only a few pounds of boost, it sounds like it begins to leak (hiss), then fully releases when I back off the throttle plate. I'll call them on Monday when they re-open in western NY

Well, the only way I know to adjust a DV is to tighten or lossen the top. Or to change the spring/ add some washers.
Good luck and let me know what they say!
