I have a 225 now, should I trade it for a BMW Z4 ?
Hey guys, new to the forum here.
I have an Audi TT 225 right now. It is really a blast to drive and I love the handling and feel of the go-kartness it provides.
However it is a 2001, and it is getting pretty old, andits got 130k miles on it.I am starting to look for a new car.
I considered the new Audi TT, but I came to a conclusion that it's ugly and not nearly as fasionable as my MK1.
I started looking into the new 2006+ BMW Z4 3.0L ( Non-SI ) Roadsters.
They're light, have about as much horsepower as my 225, and probably handle pretty good too.
I really wanted some input on whether I was making a wise decision or not...
Do you guys think the BMW Z4 will be as fast and fun as my 2001 Audi TT 225 ?
Thanks guys, I appreciate it.

I already did,
but I think they're a little too biased about the Z4, and out of the 20 replies I got, they all said the Z4 was a much better and faster car.
I was just wondering what you guys might think.

The TT has far more potential than a Z4. If you are worried about mileage, just do a compression test and see how the engine is doing. A simple hone and rering isnt to much and an upgraded turbo is always a good way to fall in love with the car all over again
To be completely honest, if you're going to be 'upgrading' to the Non-si Z4 you're probably going to be disappointed. It would kind of be a step down from a TT. I have a comparison posted below of a 2001 TTC 225 vs a 2008 Z4 3.0i vs a 2008 Z4 3.0si, and the difference between the non-si Z4 and the TT is negligable, despite the BMW being 7 years newer... They are roughly the same speed, and the TT is AWD while the Z4 is RWD. If you got the 3.0si, there would certainly be a difference as that car is much quicker than the TT (although if you chipped your TT, the TT would once again be roughly the same speed).
Here's a comparison of a 2001 TTC 225 vs a 2008 Z4 3.0i vs a 2008 Z4 3.0si:

If you are looking for a car that reminds you of your TT in feel, you might want to check out the BMW 335xi (the AWD version of the 335i) because it's about the same price as the Z4 3.0si. My mom has the 335xi and from first hand experience I can say that it is a blast
If you like a "go-kartness" feel, you might want to check out a lotus elise/exige, because that is basically a go-kart haha and at the track they rape me if they have a decently competent driver.

get off the TT's nut sack.
i wouldn't trade a TT for another mkI TT lol. unless it's the MKII.
personally, if it's a bimmer you want, id go with the typical M3 answer... that or the new 1 series.

Why not buy one of the cars in your screenname?
The 225 TT with a simple chip puts out way more power than the Z4. If you've never chipped your car, it will make you fall in love again to the tune of +40hp/+40ft-lbs or more for roughly $500. Add in a few other mods and you might rediscover the fun of your car. The Z4 is an NA car; your mods are going to produce far less significant results. The turbocharged 335i or 135i might be a better option for you if you dont mind tweaking a car.
Handling wise, I wouldn't expect too much difference...they weigh the same, one is RWD the other is AWD so unless you have the talent to play with RWD one probably won't flat outgun the other.
There's only one way to tell though: TEST DRIVE!
Also, overalll I like how the Z4 looks but I think the interior is BORING (seems to be a trait of BMW).
Overall I'd say look into the 135i and 335i as well as the Z4 or into a nicer condtion TT.
