Default i need help

so i recently bought a 2001 audi tt convertable 225 and i drove it not even a day and it started overheating, so i took it to my mechanic that also works on my familys ferrari and he thought it was the fan, so we got the fan and put it on and it is still overheating so he believes it is the headgasket. Now when i bought the car everything worked perfectly fine, but now all this is happening, i havnt even drove it hard or anything. I just dont know what to do, does anyone know how much itd be for a new head gasket? because i just paid close to $10,000 cash and now im a little freaking out that i dont even have a car right now.

1. What kind of mechanic replaces the fan without doing a pressure test?
2. You are screwed. Headgasket is big bucks.

Probably either thermostat or waterpump (plastic impeller breaks). both are known problems. Most folks have them replaced with when doing the timing belt. new waterpump uses a metal impeller.

also, try an audi mechanic next time. ferrari guy probably knows as much about the TT as your local dodge or chevy guy.
