Default I'm New, need a little help

Just bought Myself a Black 2000 Audi TT quattro
Pretty sure its the 180hp 1.8 Turbo engine though? and not the 225hp

Im a 20 year old guy, still in college
I've been saving my pennys for awhile now so i could afford this car
no help from mommy or daddy

Anyways,
I don't want to Rice out my car or anything
I hate how that seems to be the in thing to do right now.
because i think and know its useless,
Its like writing checks, you cant cash
making your car look spiffy with huge exhaust tips, bodykits, stickers and anything to that nature
it isnt going to be a good investment because its not going to make your car any better at performing then a stock one. they dont realize that its the money you spend on the performance of the car that matters, not how much you put into making it flashy. no one cares
sorry for ranting.
I love the car the way it is
for the most part.

Just need a little help finding some stuff.
Does anyone know of any performance chips that actually help gas mileage? I get about 25-26 miles to the gallon at the moment.
If theres one thing i hate about the car its the location of the cup holders and no arm rest haha what were they thinking ?
so does anyone know of anything i can add to the car so i can actually reach my drink haha
and does anyone know if theres something to add on the the car as well so i can have a flippin arm rest haha?

Thats all haha

Nice to meet you all

Well first lets talk about your pop situation.

Germans drive, they dont talk on cell phones, or eat while they drive...they simply drive. Enough said there.

This said you can buy an arm rest online, however they are expensive.

Now to mods.

This car is VERY mod friendly and they make MASSIVE gains. Getting your car chipped will improve gas milage and increase your boost. Your car will gain around 30hp and 60lbs of torque just from the chip. Can you say holy crap batman!?! ..Totally worth the money. With the chip your going to want to help your car breath better. I would suggest you also upgrade your exhaust and intake. This will give your car the ablitiy to breath. However with this kind of power gain...your going to want to upgrade your clutch... I know all to well ...how they break.... (Mine is slipping right now, im going to replace it in the next month)...

after you do that...upgrade your brakes...and you'll have the perfect TT.

Anything more than that in my opinon is lost $$ ....

Well as to solve your problem about the cupholders yes there are some cutom made stuff out there, check out www.modshack.info, as for the arm rest check out www.ttstuff.com I am pretty sure they have something. If not there then maybe www.thettshop.com. As for a chip that helps gas milege, I dont really know it all depends on how heavy your foot is. With the 180hp model you should be getting alittle better gas milage than that. Do you have dual or single exhaust? Dual you have a 225, single a 180 model. Remember when you first buy a TT unless you know for sure 100% that these were done, make sure you do the basic checkups and get the fluid changed, maybe a tune up depending on how many miles you have on your car. The basics that is the most important part when you first buy a TT. Good luck and WELCOME!

Click on this link and all your problems will dissapear, http://www.ttstuff.com/accessories_armrest.php Man I wish I had someone feed me information..... noooo I had to go and hunt almost everything down myself. Ohh well thats what Im here for I guess.

When I bought my TT, the previous owner had already pulled out the cupholders and intstalled the armrest in the middle. I thought it was stock until I checked out a couple other TTs. I definitely hate how the cupholders are placed, and I highly reccommend installing the armrest...as for a cupholder, thats why you have a girlfriend/wife....

all german cars have bad cup holders because it is german philosophy that a car is to be driven in no drinks or food. heck when you buy a Porche you have to seperately order cup holders. thats why they suck. honestly i like them, on my mustang i could olny put one drink in the two cup holders because i would hit it with the shifter, so i like the cup holders because they don't get in the way. this is a sports car not a minivan, be grateful for the cup holders.

How about you just not drink and drive, or eat and drive...why spent that kinda money on a driving machine....to drink pop while driving...heck...if my wife was a super model.... i wouldn't complain about her not liking to go to buffets with me.....i'd take her for the ride she deserves

Well I drive 3 hours north every other weekend .

So, if that will help you understand exactly why I would need a practical cupholder
there you go

haha I didn't ask you to badger me about wanting better positions of the cup holders
and most importantly
yeah this is a German Car
But I'm An American
and..
I Am In America
so I dont really care how they drive or how they think you should drive over there
and when I drive long distances
I don't know about you (bmwtoaudi) but I like to sip on a drink and occasionally eat on my drive.

(225tt) Thanks a whole lot
your links helped greatly :]

Cars getting about 28ish miles per gallon now.
and yeah its the 180hp engine sadly.
dumb me thought the quattros all came with the 225hp engines.

if you wanted a car to drink an eat in while driving you should have gotten a minivan, those things have shitloads of handy cup and food holders, not to mention the two back seats and the awesome sliding side door. i believe that is what you need for a car not a small inconvenient german sports car, LOL

Hey no prob, I understand both sides of the story here. I drove my TT 1200 miles from OK to ND. Yes I had a few drinks in my car at the time. But I also understand y the germans made it like they did, its a sports car and is made to drive, point blank. If someone wants to put a cupholder in their car thats fine, its their car. I personally dont want to put one in mine so im not going to. But I dont think we have to badger him about his cupholders, there are plenty of other guys and girls out there that are using the TT in ways that its not designed. (Making it all different types of rice) I am not trying to start any s**t here but lets just let take it easy on the new guys and inform them of y the car is designed like it is. All we can do it try to teach them the right way to hook up their car and not the wrong way.
