Default Immediate Help!! Threads stripped on Oil Filter

I can't for the life of me get my filter old or new back on for the oil. It looks like the tip of the threads could be stripped (they look like they are crushed). I tried for one hour. What can I do? There has to be a way to rethread the bolt.

The oil filter plug, not the drain plug

Dont give me the attitude. Read your subject line.

Buy a new plug. ECS has a few options I think. Buy a magnetic one while you're at it. If the threads are screwed where the plug goes then you'll have to buy a tapping tool and try that. Worst case is a new oil pan (~$200 i think.)

good luck.

the oil filter stud!!! That is what is stripped. The stud has a hole in it that the oil goes into the filter!! That stud is what is stripped
