k04 turbo upgrade
I have been looking for turbo upgrades for the 180tt that will not hurt reliability and are affordable the k04 turbo seems like the right turbo. lets say i get 3 inch turbo back exhaust an intake and a chip that would put me around 230 hp right. So how much more would a k04 raise my horsepower and torque. i know there are different types of k04 such as the k04-20 would these turbos just replace my ko3 or would it be more than a bolt on and if so what would i have to do. thanks
you will need the ko4-001. This is a direct bolt on to the 180's. It is however smaller than the ko4-2x, it has the same compressor as a ko3s, but with a larger turbine to hold boost longer and increase flow. People have seen ~220-230fwhp with these and all the bolt ons. The ko4-2x is bigger on both ends, but will require a whole new setup, not a bolt on.
220to230 with the new turbo i was expecting these results with the 3in turbo back exhaust along with chip and intake. the guy at the exhaust shop said a 20 to 25% increse in hp on the exhaust apr claims 20 to 30 hp on the tt and a intake claims 5 to 8 are these numbers bogus because if they are true wouldent i be looking at 240-260hp or is that not at the wheels would the drivetrain realy suck up that much power? sorry for all the questions im new to moding cars
so, in my TT 180 Quattro Coupe AWP if I picked up a ko4-001 and wanted to do a direct bolt-onwould I stillbe okay with the stock SMIC?
Additionally, if I wanted to chip the car, what would the end result be looking at with the chip + K04-001?
I'm looking for a minor performance increase for now, so I can really put some money into suspension upgrades.
I already have a dual exhaust setup. I guess mine came stock on the 180 AWP, because my vin says I have factory dual exhaust. I also have a forge 007 DV. Other than that, i'm fully stock.

Additionally, if I wanted to chip the car, what would the end result be looking at with the chip + K04-001? - it will get you just over the 200awhp (more drivetarin loss)

Powerwise: chip--> exhaust--> water/meth injection.
Those three would give you the biggest power gains in that order. Plus you can add things like tips and ic's to free up restrictions/reduce losses.
