Let me pick your brain on clutches
i heard not to touch that seal unless its leaking.....for you could screw things up somehow.....you all know i'm the preventative maintance guy...so i would have done it otherwise.
thats the cam seal i think your thinking about. the rear main should always be replaced when the tranny is off. i never nad a problem and ive done hundreds of trannys.
ture...cam seal is what i was thinking about.....i;m pretty sure i checked my rear main when i did my clutch and it was fine. but to be sure do you have a pic or maybe Avant 2.7 has one.
i cant find a pic of one online. when you buy it, its not just a seal it comes with the entire cover that goes on the block. its pressed in by the manufacturer. thats why this is a do it while your there seal. there is no error in installation. you guys should be okay, with 50k i wouldnt worry. it just sucks, that is the hardest transmission to pull of any transverse vag drivetrain.
Thats funny thats what the guys at the nissan dealership said too!@!
Yes they did my clutch, I know a guy up there that used to work on VW and Audis but he made the rookies pull out the tranny. They said never to bring it back to them...seriously lol.

hey ray...just for ***** and giggles what are some signs of that seal going bad....for future reference....and btw i didnt replace it....i checked everything in that area for leaks and what not while i was doing it. so i should be good. wish someone would have told me to replace it anyway.
first off its the rear crank seal not the cam seal and paddle clutches are better for performance linked with cable feed as opposed to hidrolik which is slower but im not into mods so that's it

Don't know if this is considered thread jacking but.... Could a busted slave cylinder cause my clutch to slip?
