Any suggestions on upgrading a fwd 180 muffler? Or is a full exhaust system prefered?

 

A glasspack was my backup plan, but there doesn't seem to be any way to fit one in line, unless you replace the resonator muffler with it. That's the only section straight enough for the length that most glasspacks come in. I looked for a while and gave up.

I occasionally get a backfire if I rev high before the car is totally warmed up, and it does sound a little rough on decel, but I'll more than accept that for the beautiful noise it makes at full spool.

 

I cut my exhaust back just before the muffler, and it's loud, but it snaps bystanders necks when in boost. Since I don't have a way of recording this heavenly sound, here's a sample in neutral.

Yep, thats about what I sound like.

I'm gonnna use my POS suction cup camera mount and try to get some acceleration clips with the camera back there, as well as in-cabin clips.

What is that, semi-gloss on the fat 5's? I was thinking about doing that, but I'm not sure if I can pull it off with the desert green paint....

This Saturday I'm having my local muffler shop do a "Y" pipe coming off of the resonator and out the stock location. I'm still driving around with the OEM muffler strapped underneath car, so it looks some what normal. The sound it makes is beautiful at full boost, and I'm wondering what it will be with an intake and APR TIP? I had a Corbonio CAI on my 02 1.8T Jetta, and the carbon fiber it was made out of really increased the resonance. It also made my stock diverter sound like a BT BOV in the process, and I miss that sound. I'm thinking of if I get a FMIC, and remove the stock SMIC's it will give me enough room to maybe reuse the Corbonio.
