Default looking for answer on transmission fluid

ok i need to know how i can check my trans fluid on my 2003. im having a little bit of a problem with my automatic. I just took it to my mechanic to have him check it out. iv told him that the car shifts had from first to second and again back down to first when i come to a stop anywhere from 20 MPA. also if i put the car in park then in to reverse it makes a loud thump and jerks the car. he said it sounds like im low on fluid but he has no idea where to find it or how to add any. he thinks its set up this way for Audis to get you back to there shop. can anyone help me so i dont have to bring to the dealer and get charged an arm and a leg.

wow now i see why you have to let the dealer handle this one. so if the fluid never needs changing or filling i have no idea why the car runs like this. is there anyone else with an 6speed auto that has the same problem? because if this is normal then i wont bother bringin it in. save time and money.

Audi uses a lot of life time fluids.Just because it's a life time fluid does not meanit has to be in there for the life of the car.
To be honest that's a bit scary! Personally; I liketo domy own maintenance.
That way there is no question over what fluid was used, or how it was done.
Also, being under the car is a good time to look around, and see how everything else is holding up.
