Default looking to buy a TT

Recently looked at and nearly purchased a 2001 TT Roadster with 225, 6 spd Quattro. It had a crack in the windshield, broken glove box, a tire consumption problem (cupping on the inside, all 4 tires), a leaky shock, 43 k miles (needed 40k service), average paint. Dispite those things, I thought it ran very well, tight in corners, wow brakes. Great looking little car.

Are the things that I have listed common? Are there common maladies that I missed? What's the going rate for a car like this?

Thanks all!

It doesn't sound good to me. The car was probably abused, modified, or poorly maintined.

I'd keep looking.

Seller said he would let it go for $18,775. Here's my issues:

We live just outside of New Orleans, home of the worst roads in the USA, possibly all of North America. I'm worried that the car pot holed and bent the rear suspension.

I could not get past the feeling that these folks owned the car and used it. I did not sense that they enjoyed the car and cared for it.

I think I'd like an extended warranty, and that is VERY expensive as a private party.

Present owner is a retired business man with plenty of money, which means he was a good business man. Why low ball me?

The guy said the car is stock, but it is really quick and pulls from under 3000 RPM. Just couldn't shake some uneasyness.

I would have bought it anyway, but my wife killed the deal with a lukewarm response to the car.

Anyway, I saw an S4 cabriolet recently and that is also a possibility, but the TT is just soooo cool.

If you havn't bought the car yet, DON"T . This is not a good deal. And if you live in an area that
has bad roads, you'll end up not liking the car at all. It's very unforgiving on bad pavement and cement roads that have buckles from trucking. Trust me it's one of my key issues with this car. The frame is to rigid to obsorb road damge well and trnsmits through every inch of the car. On the other hand it is a roadster and is designed as such. Good luck and don't buy that one
