Looking to buy a used TT... help?!
Hi... I'm a long-time TT fanatic - I think it's one of the most beatiful cars ever built. I have saved for some time and have $20-$25k to spend. I would hugely appreciate some suggestions as to which variant to get. I'm quite a driving enthusiast and absolutely love driving.
From browsing a few pages of the forum, it seems a 2004 V6 is the way to go, but is a bit out of my price range. Should i get an older model? And if so, which one?
Thanks!

get a 225 1.8t turbo instead. You will get better gas milage, easier upgradeable, and with a chip you will have equal if not more power with a chip and maybe an exhaust. THere is alot of good ones out there that could be had for under $20k and then can spen the extra on upgrades and maintaince that is need right away.
yes go with the 225...i almost got the 180 as it was the first one i drove...i got on this forum as well as audiworld.com and saw that most people wished they had the 225 version so then i waited about a 2 days and found my car on the internet and drove to INDY and test drove it and i was like "i'm getting this car" i'm very happy i went with the 225 instead of the 180. the 180 i was going to get has a **** ton of problems with it and you could tell it wasnt taken car of. i mean dumb **** like the glove box handle was broke and the knee pads were are funked up..and the dealer was trying to sell it to me for like 19k it wasnt even worth 15k....the 225 and the 180 are both great but if you want that 6speed and a faster car then pick the 225
Yeah, the v6 is really nice, but expensive and doesn't mod easy. Im not a HUGE mod person, so please dont think this car is a tuner for everyone, But I personally bought a 2000 audi TT that is mint *body* for $9600. Has 80k miles....
When I got it, it needed a clutch, rear axel, timing belt change and a starter change....
now it sounds like a lot,...but other than the axel....its wear and tear items that needed to be replaced anyways....while replacing them... I upgraded them.....
This up coming week im installing my new clutch...and intake.... already has the chip and borla exhaust...
its a really REALLY fun car...
heck if you buy a 225 2001 or 2002... you'll have plenty of money to mod the crap out of it...giving you an extremely FAST car.
good luck!

Since I'm relatively new here and don't really have much of any value to add, I can at least say that I just bought a 2002 225 Coupe for just shy of $22,000 with 27,000 miles. That might be a little high, but it is in absolute mint condition. There's quite a lot of them out there in your price range!
