Word! Have you heard of anybody doing this? Any feedback?

 

I've talked to guys with twin turbo S4's who have done cat back straights.

Reason i got the idea was because people are spending a grand on cat back exhuast systems for turbo diesel trucks then i saw the dino numbers from just cat back straight pipes they where pretty much the same. and the cost differance is huge.

On the TT you lose the muffler thats 40lb less weight the turbo will spool a bit quicker because theres no muffler restriction and you'll get a lot more sound to scare teh ricers with. it's a win win win and you'll get a little more HP.
It's going to cost me 150 bucks for a cat back system put in my TT with crome tips.

 

who do you have make that system?

 

Exhaust Pro's in my town is doing it.
it's pretty simple any exhaust shop can do it.
just a little welding a few bends and crome tips and you've got one sweet sounding cat backsystem.

 

I have done this if anyone cares. It not that loud and it still has a deep sound so no pissed off bumble be sound like most 4 cyl. All i had done to the car is right after the resinator i had it cutt off ran a y pipe into 2 3 and half in chrome tips and it sounds good.

I wonder what it would sound like if you cut off the resonator? Could you give us a sound clip of yours?

I have done this to my car. I had a no muffler with a straight pipe. It sounds ok. Not too great, it wasnt my style. Sounds ricey to me, but some people said it sounded nice. Its really loud when you punch it... Thats before i got the chip, i cant even imagine now !
