Default Magnaflow muffler q's

Ok, so I have been thinking about the next on my to do list before getting it chipped and I decided to skip spending 850 on a borla and make a custom 3" cat back for less than half the cost of a borla. I have a 180 TT andI was thinking of putting3" mandrel bent pipe no resand a Magnaflow muffler, probably the camaro mufflers since they have basically the same setup asthe TT's 225 muffler...

Any feedback would be appreciated, if anyone has tried this or knows anyone who has gone the same rout let me know how it turned out.

If not the camaro muffler, which one should i use to get the dual outlet like the 225's?

I don't know squat about muffler specs, just go with what fits. I also question the wisdom of a 3" pipe. To me it looks like a rice burner mod.
If you drive a FWD, and are after the appearance of dual pipes, the most cost effective solution is a good custom job.

if you have a fwd, you can't do a dual exhaust like the 225, the wheel well is in the way. and 3 inch is kinda of a waist, 2.5 is good enough for 400 hp. three inch won't hurt though, but it will cost a bit more. as far as mufflers go, if your after power, then go for a straight through like a glass pack, and if your just after some more sound, go for a traditional performance muffler, but there still pretty restricive. but if you don't mind a deep low tone, put a 2.5 glass pack on right after the cat where the resonator is,and another where the muffler goes. the two glass packs will give a very very nice note. also, the turbo soaks up a 1/3 of the noise from the engine, and the at takes up some more as well, so a glass pack by itself isn't so bad, but two will give a very desirable tone.

Actually there are a few, limited after market options for duals on a FWD.

Let me qualify that: Dual Outlet

My friend has a custom set-up like you're talking about. No cat, just a magnaflow muffler... but I can't remember which, they have so many. I love it. Currently I have a straight back and it's entirely too loud. I personally feel my friend's is perfect. E-mail/PM me if you want his contact info to talk to him more about it, maybe he could make an audio clip for you.

i have a 180 quattro, so i could definately fit the dual exit in the rear. i looked underneath where the stock muffler is and it is basically the same muffler setupas the 225, its mounted at like a 90 degree angle, instead of a small straight throughmuffler, but it has one exit instead of one on each side.

Screw the dual tips. You gain no extra power, just weight. Go with a straight through 3" muffler no chambers. You should be good.
