Misfires at idle! Help!
I have been logging some misfires at idle with vag-com in cylinders two and three. Causes of misfires that come to mind are bad maf but that seems to be giving normal readings, coil packs or spark plugs but I would assume those would manifest through the entire rev range, throttle body but I aligned it and it didn't help so I'm running out of ideas. I can check the o2 sensors with vag-com but I don't know anything about the values I am looking at. Anyone have any suggestions?
Hm. I tried swapping the packs to 1 and 4 and now I am getting misfires in all cylinders. I would need to get a boost gauge to check vac levels? Should I not drive the car until this is resolved?
I just had a misfire issue after changing plugs, coilpacks were the older version L's and went bad. I replaced with revision R ones and running good again. My local Audi dealership will price match ECS if I bring a printout- I got the OEM coilpacks for 31.40 each, down from $49. Still probably not the cheapest, but quick and convenient.
I looked on ecs-tuning and my ignition coils look like the latest "E" version. Do the old coils look like the the new ones because I bought my car used and if they were changed it would seem unlikely that they would go bad again.
I swapped out the plugs and I think that fixed the problem. The old ones I pulled out were some bosch ones that I didn't find on the Audi recommendation list. I don't know if that was a factor or they were just old but I'm glad I didn't order those ignition coils
Thanks for the help everyone!
