Unhappy More trouble, clutch going...

I have all the symptoms of a clutch failing. From what I've read, this is not a cheap install due to the labor time involved. I have access to a full shop with lifts, so I'm thinking of taking it on myself. However, I want to be sure a Bentley for my TT would be a good enough guide to get this done with a friend of mine.

Also, what clutch kits can you guys recommend and where should I buy from? I want something a little beefier than stock, but am looking for the car to still be a good daily driver without a lot of chatter from the clutch. Thanks.

Forgot to ask one more thing: the symptom is that if I do a 4th gear roll on, the RPMs start to jump without acceleration, so I know the clutch is going. However, is it just the clutch, or could the flywheel, slave, and/or master cylinders be affected as well?

'just clutch' is probably a good place to start. A bentley should get you thru it. I have no recommendations for a replacement though. Im at almost 160K miles, and as far as I can tell, Im on my original clutch, and going strong. I haven't looked into what options are out there.

What year and is it a 5 speed or 6 speed?

The 6 speed kits come with a new internal slave cylinder. You wont need to deal with the master cylinder.

If you are looking for a slight upgrade to the stock clutch I would suggest the Clutch Masters FX100. If you have any questions about clutch kits for the TT please feel free to PM/Email or even call me directly, my number is on my web site which is linked at the bottom of my Sig.

Sorry, it's a 2003 225, so 6 speed, all-wheel drive.

I sell parts for all Audi cars and am here to help AF members money, it doesn't matter if I own a TT or not.

There are different kits for the 5 speed and 6 speed when it comes to clutch setup, maybe if you sold parts you would know that.

Clutch Masters
5 speed kit - Part number 17-036
6 speed kit - part number 02-017

South Bend
5 speed kit
K70249 - up to ch#8N1006000 (2000-2001)
K70319 - from ch#8N1006001 (2001-2002)

6 speed kit - K70287

None of the kits say FWD or Quattro and this is because they fit both.

Wow Mike, you are special. So now since you SELL parts, you know more? Go find a 180q clutch and compare it to a 225's 6sp and FWD 5sp. Hope you have fun selling people the wrong kits when a 180q person gets a clutch for a 02J and needs one for his 02M. You are JUST LIKE all the other retailers that never see the part and just go by whats on other peoples website. Now before you continue to come in here, PLEASE GET YOUR FACTS STRAIGHT! The FAQ is up there for a reason, you might want to read it....

So basically what your saying is that South Bend and Clutch Masters doesn't know crap about their own products they offer for the TT?

BTW it isn't like I haven't already sold plenty of TT clutch kits and not one customer complaint about the SB or CM clutch kits. Sorry but I dont sell Ebay clutch kits.
